1. Your account is not eligible for recommendations
Go to Settings and activity, then Account Status. If it says your content cannot be recommended to non-followers, Reels will only reach your followers. Fix or appeal the listed issues.
2. Watermarks and reposts
Instagram limits reach for Reels with visible watermarks from other apps and for reposted content. Upload the clean original file.
3. The account is new or was just changed
New accounts, and accounts that just changed username, bio and picture all at once, get a smaller test audience. Warm up gradually.
4. Audio problems
Muted audio or copyrighted music can limit a Reel. Use original audio or sounds from Instagram's library.
5. Private account
Reels from private accounts only reach approved followers. Switch to public in Settings, Account privacy.
6. Poor first second
If a Reel gets some views but stalls, viewers are swiping away. Lead with the payoff and add text on screen.
7. Low quality or wrong format
Vertical 9:16, at least 720p, with no black bars. Blurry or boxed video gets less reach.
8. Spammy captions or hashtags
Walls of hashtags and link-bait captions can hurt. Use a few specific hashtags and a clear caption.
9. Deleted and reposted
Reposting the same Reel after deleting it is often treated as a duplicate. Make a new edit instead.
